- Yep... FTP to bart.starnet.com, anonymous login, and go to the pub directory.
- It's there... it's the demo, and needs a previous version installed in order
- to use it. I don't think that the font features that you're looking for are
- in it, though.

-
- That would be nice... but from what i've read in the homenet groups
- (see the message about customizing machine names) it doesn't seem likely
- that we'll get it.
-
- >As to IP addresses, ... well I'll download some RFCs and see if we

-
- I thought perhaps that the slipX-YY name and the IP address were
- always the same. If not, that would mean that the nameserve (is it nisca?)
- is already being informed of logins, which helps (somewhat). In that
- case the DAAServer would only give a machine name, and not worry about
- IP addresses.
-
- >Hummmm.... designing complex software via USENET :)
-
- It's actually not all that complex. After I posted that message,
- I thought some more about the design and came up with a mini protocol
- with a two byte header, and the rest of the packet just the required data
- to execute the command (lookup, whatever). Now I just have to get a copy
- of UNIX Network Programming (again) and figure out how to write Winsock
- apps. Any good books on the subject? Or maybe just source?
-
- And oh yeah, every once in a while the DAAServer could ping the
- hosts it has on record, and if any of them are invalid, it would drop
- them from the list.

- Dear Mike,
- About the "cute little blotch of white lines in the bottom right hand
- center of my screen"... I have been having this same symptom at random every
- since I started connecting via Chameleon and SLIP. ALthough I am in the process
- of tracking things down with tech support, it occured to me that I might be
- several steps further along if I knew what usually caused that particular type
- of failure. Your message indicates more than a passing acquaintence with it,
- can you enlighten me? Thanks for any information you might be able to share.
